Ordinary Hillside in Utah
We're always looking to capture scenes from our culture, about
our people, about our times. Well, here's another one. The only
way we can adequately show you this scene is using Flash--multiple
images tied together with dissolves. In the first image you
will see what the Salt Lake Valley natives refer to as "Corner
Canyon" and also part of "South Mountain." If
you see the stake center steeple on the hill, right of center,
with the green hillside behind it--the open area just to the
right of it is where the new Draper Utah Temple will be built.
In the second scene you will see the parking lots, the stake
center and the proximity of the mountains. In the third scene
we look northward along the parking lot curbs and gutters to
see a partial view of the valley. In the fourth scene we turn
the camera towards the setting sun on the west side of the valley.
In the fifth scene we look north towards the University of Utah
campus. In the last scene we train the camera to look over the
site of the temple and towards downtown Salt Lake City. On a
clear day you can see the Salt Lake Temple and the Jordan River
Temple from this site (all of these last five scenes are taken
from the same spot just pivoting and changing the length of
the lens). Do you think the pioneers ever imagined their valley
to be dotted with temples?
