Singing Christmas carols around a bonfire at George and Martha Washington's
Mt. Vernon certainly did much to add to the holiday cheer of this
group of citizens (including Meridian's Proctor family). What a
joy it was to sing on this cold, clear night, in the shadow of our
founding father's home, "Silent Night, Holy Night. All is calm,
All is bright." The evening was spent touring Mt. Vernon by
candlelight.
