Through the
Camera Lens, Part 5
Youth: The Future of the Church in Russia
A Photographic Essay by Scot Facer Proctor
One of the things President Hinckley said in his talk to the Saints
here in Russia (the full text of which will be published on Meridian)
was that the youth were the future of the Church in Russia. He
charged them to be faithful and true.
I wanted to
capture some of their faces for you. They are beautiful and will
live up to President Hinckley’s charge.

This father
and son were about as handsome and full of light as anyone I’ve
seen. I thought how this father would pass on righteousness to
his son and his son truly is part of the future of the Church
in Russia.

Missionaries
everywhere were taking a good number of pictures, including this
one.

I believe the
young women of Russia are heeding the words of President Hinckley
who asked girls that if they were going to pierce ears to only
have one set of earrings, and a small one at that. I saw none
of the young women here go against that counsel.

This young
boy could make a fine stake president some day.

Your sons and
your daughters who have served missions in Russian-speaking areas
have been blessed to bring many wonderful people into the Church
in this area.

The youth are
learning to be strong and may bless the lives of millions in the
future years to come.

This little
one was having the most fun playing with her coat on her head.

Youth programs
of the Church, in many areas, are still in their fledgling stage
but, with the help of the members, the work will go forth across
this vast continent.

The youth of
the Church in Russia must be valiant and true to the testimony
of Jesus Christ.

Shall the Youth
of Zion Falter, When Defending Truth and Right? No!
