These are a Few of My Favorite….
Photographs of President Hinckley, Part 3

President and Sister Hinckley were just the trademark of happiness in Ghana.  No one could keep their eyes off of them.  Their warmth was infectious.  Their kind waves of the hand always made everyone feel loved.  Accra, Ghana.

President Hinckley loves to involve the children at the temple coverstone ceremonies as here with young Daniel Klunder.  The Hague Temple, The Netherlands.

President Hinckley is captured here in a moment during a press conference releasing the 1880 Census to the world free online.  Salt Lake City, Utah.

President Hinckley also loves to involve his own family in the temple dedications.  Here he awaits “Mother” and Kathy (his daughter) as they put “mud” on the coverstone of the temple.  Accra, Ghana.

These two are love birds, no less.  Kirtland, Ohio.

I’ll never forget when President Hinckley invited his precious wife to the stand in Moscow and introduced her to the 2,000 present as his “Babushka.”  It brought the house down—they loved it.  Moscow, Russia.

I had to publish this picture again.  When we first published it, one woman wrote to us and said, “If people don’t believe Mormons are Christians, just have them look at this picture of Sister Marjorie Hinckley.”  I so agree.  Nauvoo, Illinois.

This picture hangs in our office at Meridian headquarters as does the last one of Sister Hinckley.  How blessed we are to live during the administration and ministry of President Gordon B. Hinckley.  Nauvoo, Illinois.

If you look closely you can see both President Hinckley’s hand and Sister Hinckley’s hand and face as they bid farewell to Africa.  This would be the last picture I ever took of Sister Hinckley as she would collapse on the way home from this trip and never recover.  This was a goodbye wave that makes me emotional to this day.  Accra, Ghana.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little personal journey.  Happy General Conference weekend!
