Reunion of the 'Greatest Generation'
A Photographic Essay

Part Two

This veteran really enjoyed seeing the old vehicles in “the Motor Pool.”

When he climbed up into the old armored troop carrier and took the wheel for a photograph for his family, the memories overcame him and his eyes welled up with tears.

An old-fashioned military band gathered in “the Canteen” under one of the tents and played music of the 40’s so the veterans could get up and dance.

The couples slowly danced around to Stardust and other favorites.  The big band sound attracted lots of couples.  Some of the men were dancing with their daughters or granddaughters.

Their feet were not as limber as they were sixty years ago, but that didn’t stop them from dancing.

This World War II Veteran was determined to get out of his wheelchair and just have one last dance.

He made it up and leaned heavily on his partner and loved every minute of it.
