Reunion of the 'Greatest Generation'
A
Photographic Essay
Part
Two
|
This
veteran really enjoyed seeing the old vehicles in “the Motor
Pool.” |
|
When
he climbed up into the old armored troop carrier and took
the wheel for a photograph for his family, the memories
overcame him and his eyes welled up with tears. |
|
An
old-fashioned military band gathered in “the Canteen” under
one of the tents and played music of the 40’s so the veterans
could get up and dance. |
|
The
couples slowly danced around to Stardust and other
favorites. The big band sound attracted lots of couples.
Some of the men were dancing with their daughters or granddaughters. |
|
Their
feet were not as limber as they were sixty years ago, but
that didn’t stop them from dancing. |
|
This
World War II Veteran was determined to get out of his wheelchair
and just have one last dance. |
|
He
made it up and leaned heavily on his partner and loved every
minute of it. |
