Volunteers Needed to Process
Marriage Petitions in So. California
Although California citizens passed
Proposition 22 in 2000, which defines marriage as the union between
a man and a woman, that proposition can be overturned by the courts
or state legislature. The only way for citizens to protect California's
existing marriage law is through a constitutional marriage amendment
approved by a majority of voters. The need for a marriage amendment
couldn't be more urgent as the California Supreme Court considers
a legal case seeking to overturn Prop 22. That ruling is expected
to come before June 5, 2008. Protect Marriage http://www.protectmarriage.com
has received about 1 million signatures, well above the required
700,000 and now needs volunteers to help with this final round
of processing petitions.
