Volunteers Needed to Process
Marriage Petitions in California
"Timing is everything,” and nothing
could be truer of the current movement to get a constitutional
amendment to preserve marriage in California.
Although California citizens passed Proposition
22 in 2000, which defines marriage as the union between a man
and a woman, that proposition can be overturned by the courts
or state legislature.
The only way for citizens to protect California's
existing marriage law is through a constitutional marriage amendment
approved by a majority of voters. It’s bewildering to think
that we must unite to protect such a basic institution, and at
the same time amazing that a mere signature can provide the means
to accomplish this.
Protect Marriage www.protectmarriage.com
reports that the number of petitions they receive each day is
growing. Petition-processing locations have been set up around
the state. If you live near one, please consider volunteering
some time to help process petitions.

ProtectMarriage.com reports that
700,000 signatures have been turned in. Its goal is to collect
1.1 million raw signatures total. If you have not yet obtained
a petition for you and your family to sign, and are willing to
do so, please contact Family Leader California's State Director,
Susan Markham, at susanmarkham@verizon.net.
She can get a petition to you in just a day or two, which will
leave you enough time to sign it and mail it in. If you have a
petition already, please turn it in today!
If you live in California, please make it
a priority in the next two weeks to assist in this crucial effort.
