Family History Library to Hold Free Classes on Understanding Technology

SALT LAKE CITY — If you are struggling to understand computer technology and how it can help you organize and preserve your family history, now is your chance to learn. On Saturday, August 9, 2008, the Family History Library is offering classes on understanding technology and its uses.

The topics include:  “The Files on Your Computer, Part 1: Introduction, Understanding and Creating;”  “The Files on Your Computer, Part 2: Organizing; Flash Drives, Digital Recorders, and Digital Cameras;” and “Using USB and U3 Keys.”

The classes will be held in the library's main floor computer lab and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  To view the class schedule online, go to www.familysearch.org

The library is located to the west of Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City . Free parking is available in the lot at 119 West North Temple Street (behind the Museum of Church History and Art). To register for these free classes, send an email to FHLClassReg@ldschurch.org or call 801-240-4950.  

Family History Library to Hold Free Netherlands (Dutch) Research Series  

SALT LAKE CITY On Saturday, August 16, 2008 , the Family History Library is offering classes in Dutch Research for anyone with ancestors from the Netherlands . 

The classes will include topics on Internet research, Gazetteers and Maps, Civil Registration Records, and Church Records.  Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To view the schedule online, go to www.familysearch.org

SALT LAKE CITY On Saturday, August 23, 2008, the Family History Library is offering classes in Italian Research.  The classes will include: “Finding the Place of Origin,”  “Basic Research,”   “Marriage Records,” “Reading Church and Civil Records,” and “Italian Research on the Internet.”  Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
