2007 Pearl Award Nominees
The Faith Centered Music Association (FCMA) has announced the nominees for the 2007 Pearl Awards, recognizing artistic and professional excellence in the faith centered music industry.
Each year the FCMA voting membership is given the opportunity to review nominated albums released during the eligibility period and vote for those that they feel represent the best of the industry. Votes are also cast for the artists, producers, writers, arrangers and other industry professionals who have a hand in creating the best works and getting the music into the hands of the public.
The presentation of the 2007 Pearl Awards will take place during a special “by invitation” dinner to be held at the Wilkinson Center on the Brigham Young University campus Friday, September 28 th at 6:30 PM. In addition to the presentation of the Pearl Awards, the evening will feature performances by nominees Cherie Call, Joshua Creek, One Clear Voice, Jenny Jordan Frogley, Jason Deere, and classical duo Marshall McDonald and Steven Sharp Nelson.
Commenting on this year's group of nominees Staci Peters, Chair of the FCMA Board of Directors said, “the submissions we received this year represent the broadest range of styles we've ever seen in our industry. In order to recognize excellence in all of those areas, we've added five new song categories: devotional, motivational, singer-songwriter/folk, children's, and contemporary inspirational.”
Peters continues; “We also created a children's album category and separated the sacred instrumental and classical instrumental album categories. It's very satisfying to see how much the borders of faith-centered music have expanded in the past ten years to encompass such diversity. We have more exceptional music to celebrate than ever before.”
The FCMA was organized to unite and provide support to the artists, musicians and service providers that are vital to producing and marketing inspirational and faith centered music. This is done by creating opportunities for the membership to serve within their communities; fostering education and mentoring for young and upcoming musicians and opportunities for dialogue among music business professionals; and recognizing the accomplishments of those who share their skills and talents to create great music.
A limited number of tickets for the 2007 Pearl Awards will be sold to the public after September 21. For more information please visit the FCMA website at www.fcmaonline.org.
