Book of Mormon Art Competition-Gallery 2

Continue Meridian's tour of the Museum of Church History and Art by viewing some of the art competition winners in the second gallery.

(Don't miss the winners from Gallery 1 already displayed on Meridian)

Meridian was overwhelmed with letters of gratitude from all over the world as members of the Church were able to visit a "cyber gallery" of the Museum of Church History and Art and the 5th International Art Competition with the Book of Mormon as theme. This week, in cooperation with Brother Ron Read of the Museum, we are placing "Gallery 2" online for your enjoyment and spiritual upliftment. Take the time to look at the images as you would in the physical gallery in Salt Lake City. We marvel at the great talent that is emerging in members of the Church from every part of the globe. We hope you will show your children the gallery online and talk to them about it.

In a recent visit of a friend of ours to the actual Museum, she was able to take a non-member neighbor and her boys. The eight-year-old member boy explained the paintings to the other eight-year-old non-member boy. The boy started picking up on some of the themes. "There's that interesting ball [the Liahona] again," he said, as he noticed it in a quilt hanging from the wall. At that point the two mothers observed the boys as they stared at the quilt. The moment lasted for a long time-perhaps five or six minutes. The messages seemed to be sinking in to the boys' minds. Impressions were made. Feelings were shared. Good will was engendered.

Sit back in front of your screen. Ponder the themes. It would be well to have your Book of Mormon near you and double the experience of viewing the images by opening to the passages as you go. May you feel the spirit of these themes and these very talented artists.
